If you visit this site at all often, you've noticed that I've said very little for the last 7 months. I have to declare surrender for a while. My new daughter gets higher priority, and I just can't find time to coherently write new articles. The site's not going anywhere, but will only be updated as time allows. I have to be honest - I don't see that happening any time soon.

Short Code Contest Ending Soon!
Nov 30 is the entry deadline for Paul Bourke's POVRay Short Code Contest is coming up quickly. Paul set a limit of 4 entries, and I got 3 in before running out of steam. Good luck to everyone!

Sierpinski's Triangle
I ended up running down a few dead ends trying to create scenes for Paul Bourke's Short Code Contest and created a macro to generate Sierpinski's pyramid in the process. Not wanting to waste the effort, I typed up a tutorial on it, so take a look at Rendering Sierpinski's Pyramid. Now, if only I could get motivated to catch up on the IRTC Watches...
For site news, I'm starting to migrate the site to a database back end. It'll make things easier on me since the flat-files I've been using limit site flexibility. With that, I've also added a comments section to the blog/news entries via Haloscan.

Lazy, Lazy Summer
It's true. I wondered away from Povray over the summer to work on a few other projects. Those are going into maintenance mode, so it's time to get ray-tracing again. Until I get my chops back, here some discoveries while surfing the web:
Kudos to Steve for a great use of POV-Tree. The follow-on discussions are also insightful.
Ok, that's all to see here at the moment. Move along.

IRTC Watch Up
Ok, I have linked to the March-April IRTC Watch. And now some nuggets from around the web:
Jamie Vives Piqueres produced some great looking cloth, aided by ArahWeave. I have to admit that I got a bit of thrill when I saw that ArahWeave only runs on Linux. It didn't last long, because too many people will be limited to not using it :(
Tim Attwood showed off some cartoon effects, including a description of how to create it.
The March-April IRTC Watch is wrapping up nicely - I just have a few details to close out on and I'll post it. Of course, those sneaky guys have announced the May-June winners, so I'm back to running behind. In the mean time, here's some other interesting goings-on to check out:
